ScreenShot2013-08-04at61054PM_zps3120a52b It’s taken a while for mainstream conventional wisdom to come down hard on the negative health implications of consuming sugar and foods that turn to sugar in the body, but it is finally starting to get a much-deserved black eye. Through the great work of people like Dr. Robert Lustig and Gary Taubes, among others, the sweet stuff has lost some of its luster and today’s podcast interview guest is doing her part to spread that message even further. She is a New York City-based nutritional health expert named Brooke Alpert from “B Nutritious.” Brooke has authored a fabulous new book in 2013 entitled The Sugar Detox: Lose Weight, Feel Great, and Look Years Younger that has been featured on The Dr. Oz Show. Listen in as Jimmy and Brooke engage in a fabulous conversation about why sugar is probably not such a good idea to be consuming in your diet, the health consequences resulting from excess sugar intake, the healthfulness of including quality fats in your diet and so much more! This is one sweet interview that won’t leave you stuffed.

  1. Great show Jimmy! Thanks for asking her about saturated fat. I’d like to see a conversation between her and Cassie about fats. But at least she’s on board with coconut oil.

    1. She threw me for a loop when she said “lean meats” so I had to ask her about that. Cassie and her would make a great conversation.

  2. Yeah, the comment about limiting dietary saturated fats caught my ear too — I did not listen to any more after that. She lost credibility with me, and was otherwise preaching to the long-since converted as regards sugar.
Guess that is why she is able to appear on mainstream TV shows — I never turn on the TV either, for ANY reason.
