Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore! Today Jimmy speaks with Hannah Sutter, a former Barrister from the UK who now wants to tell the world about the lies our respective governments are telling in their approved dietary guidelines. Ms. Sutter has an in-depth knowledge about low carb – not surprising since she confesses that Gary Taubes was a "huge influence" – that she shares in her book Big Fat Lies: Is Your Government Making You Fat?

Listen in to this fantastic episode as Jimmy and Hannah range across a large field of topics, including her company, GoLower, and the previously interviewed Dr. Robert Lustig.

  1. This podcast was awesome… Another home run! Keep it up Jimmy! I felt like I was a fly on the wall of two old friends.  You would "uh huh!" and get all excited as you both agreed on your points. EXCELLENT interview!

  2. Starch is a disaster in America and Britain, but Africans eating a traditional diet can eat starch all day and they don't seem to get heart disease, I don't get it.
Stephan Guyenet says one study of 4500 autopsies in Nigeria and Uganda showed only 3 people who had heart disease, and the cultures in question ate almost all starch.  I wonder if their starches, mainly cassava and cornmeal make their blood sugars spike like our starches do to mine.  What do you think?

  3. Fabulous interview with Hannah, Jimmy! I feel the same ire she does at the steamrolling the government through all of its agencies and masks is giving us. That's why I'm hopeful that we at the Ancestral Health Society can capture the groundswell that's emerging especially as a result of the internet and change our direction for the better. Keep up the great work!

  4. Anybody who uses the word INSULIN in a low carb podcast more than once has my vote – It's the first word I look up in 'health books' (before saturated fat) to determine if the person has ANY knowledge of human nutrition. Its ALL about insulin (not calories (whatever THAT is))  –  Hannah is good – loved the podcast, and getting the book!
I personally think the logic reason why saturated fat in milk is worse than saturated fat in meats is not because of the sat fat but because of the lactose. Take anything with sugar and the anything becomes bad ?

  5. Great interview.  Nothing she said was news to me as I have been lowcarbing over twelve years.  Still, it was nice to hear it from a lawyer with a delightful accent. Keep up the good work Jimmy.

  6. As usual this was so informative, I have been listening in the UK now for nearly 12 weeks and wish I had known all this before.  It is a tragedy that so many like myself suffer for so many years diet after diet and have been brain washed with the low fat mantra that we cannot identify our true enemies.  I have ordered the book, love the show AND my question is, I have been following the Atkins/Caveman/Paleo low carb healthy lifestyle, can I get the Go Lower bars from somewhere in the UK?
Also Jimmy, thank you so much over the last few weeks I have learned more than in 40 yeas of yo yo dieting.  I discovered through sugar shock that I had hypoglycaemia, not ONE doctor even suggested a glucose test.  I am now free from inflammation, brain fog, depression, 2 extra stone in weight, gone, and 4 to go.  But I have a quality of life at 53.  I am also taking a variety of supplements suggested by the different guests and yourself……….THANK YOU

  7. Enjoyed the podcast very much. the only bad I found is the Go Lower bars have soy in them 🙁
    thanks Jimmy

  8. Jimmy, What is the study she referenced (Around minute 9 of the show) that saturated fat does NOT contribute to heart disease? it sounded like she said something like “norbert standing”?

    Thanks!

  9. Great interview. For 20 years I followed all the expert advice trying to lose weight (and failing), and it was only when I stopped listening and started thinking and researching for myself that I discovered it was all wrong!! I lost 2 stone (28lbs) really easily while cutting back the carbs and the cardio. I know people who had early success with Atkins but stopped because friends told them they were putting themselves at risk of heart disease, so now they are as fat as they ever were. Sad that this misinformation is so endemic in our population.

  10. The book (Big Fat Lies) is very interesting until you notice that it is basically a montage of other people’s research with the purpose of being a hook for getting you to purchase the diet programme GoLowerFoods. You would probably be best spent giving your time to Atkins or some other more thought out programme.
