  1. Hopefully, people will READ THE BOOK, and not just make a mad dash for the yogurt aisle, or stock up on probiotic caps, thinking the sure for obesity is a simple one.

  2. She seems like a nice lady but I’m afraid she doesn’t understand her brief or appreciate how knowledgeable your listener-ship is.. Firmicutes are vital for colon and overall health, as these “secondary degraders” convert the glucose and acetate from the “primary degraders” like the Bacteroides, into the all-important Butyrate which is the preferred fuel of the colon. Butyrate also neutralizes inflammation, reverses cancer and other things too numerous to mention. The Bacteroides that she calls skinny bacteria actually convert starch into Acetate which goes to the liver where it stimulates lipogenesis (fat creation) and acts as a substrate for cholesterol. So, this is the one that actually makes you fat, the polar opposite of what she’s saying. You need a 50/50 mix of these phyla of bacteria 4 optmium health.

    She also recommends insoluble fiber when study after study shows it to have v little benefit and can actually be quite abrasive on the colon. Insoluble fiber is way better and resistant starch is MEGA-important for eventually producing butyrate in the colon..
