As the popularity of the Paleo lifestyle has gained prominence in recent years, it shouldn’t be surprising that these people would want to gather together to learn about the latest scientific evidence supporting this way of eating. Plus, since Paleo is about great-tasting food and healthy living, the fellowship of the people involved in it having the opportunity to hang out, work out, and eat out together is something that must be fulfilled. Since 2011, that’s exactly what the Ancestral Health Symposium (AHS) has done. It started at University of California-Los Angeles that year, then went to Harvard in 2012, and Atlanta in 2013. This year’s event will take place August 7-9, 2014 at the University of California-Berkeley and REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN. Today we have AHS co-founder and fourth-year medical school student Brent Pottenger and AHS public relations specialist and Paleo blogger Karen Phelps sharing about what they have in store for #AHS14 at Berkeley.

Listen in as Jimmy, Brent and Karen dive into the details about AHS, whether the stereotype of AHS as a more academic (TRANSLATED: “stuffy”) setting is valid, the attempt at “storming the academic ivory tower” that has worked well, whether they have pursued getting CME accreditation for AHS, what AHS does very well and how it attracts people from all walks of life from around the world, the very “interesting” talks they have lined up for 2014, the poster, movement sessions, and panels (including a “top secret” one being announced soon) that are planned, the special BONUS day of lectures on August 10th honoring the late Seth Roberts, the “good-looking nerds” that attend this event, the two parallel rooms as well as movement sessions this year, videos of the talks will be posted on the Internet (hopefully!) afterwards, why if you want to miss a talk or two to meet up with people to build relationships, why they choose to focus on the “ancestral” community rather than Paleo, the “journal-type” recap idea they have for the AHS talks, how AHS is for anyone (even low-carbers) interested in being healthy, and so much more. If you’ve been thinking about coming to AHS14, listen to this podcast to hear plenty of reasons why YOU should be there.
