  1. Great presentation! I really appreciate how well you explain these ideas…still can’t figure out how people would argue against eating real food (???). For those of us who have been broken by a system that continues to teach and perpetuate the “low-fat”/ “eat less/exercise more” message…this is a very practical talk on what to actually eat and what NOT to eat.

Why would an obese person feel hungry? If a “calorie is a calorie” and “energy in = energy out”, then this would not explain why an obese person would generally be hungry (about every 2-3 hours). They would have enough fat/energy in them to live off of for quite a long time; because their system is broken though, they are constantly hungry because they are burning sugar (they are not burning fat). Let’s let the body work the way it is supposed to work…burn fats/ help us to feel hungry and full when we should.

Really enjoyed your talk at the Gluten Summit as well-thanks!

  2. Compared to grains and other heavy carbs, everyday LC foods SEEM like super foods, but in reality, when compared to other LC foods, there IS no such thing as a super food–unless you count nutrient density per bite. For example, blueberries and red beans always get touted (in CW land) as the antioxidant leaders, but really, it’s HERBS AND SPICES, even COCOA POWDER, that are the antioxidant powerhouses!

Leafy greens get pushed for nutrient content, but in reality, it’s SPROUTS and MICROGREENS that are far superior.

If anything, these so-called “superfood” articles only serve to ramp up demand for those particular foods. People and pros need to learn what REALLY makes a super food!

Maybe it’s because if they really knew what a super food was, they’d realize their own consumerism gets cut way down–and this scares them. Or maybe they (the pros) finally get a glimpse of their own shaky job security.
