If you’ve been listening to this podcast over the years when Jimmy has had conversations with medical doctors, then you already know these physicians are lucky if they received one, maybe two weeks worth of nutritional education as part of their formalized training for treating their future patients. This doesn’t sit too well with a future generation of medical professionals who are rising up to take a stand for the integral role diet plays in overall health.

A couple of medical school students at Duke University named Peter Wei And Alex Chamessian discovered the power of low-carb living and are now trying to communicate that message with their fellow students. They’re doing this through a new book entitled Learning Medicine: An Evidence-Based Guide as well as connecting with their fellow medical school students who are also supporters of a low-carb/Paleo/primal diet at AncestralMed.org. Listen in as Jimmy speaks with Peter and Alex about this critically important endeavor to teach medical school students about the effectiveness of nutritional health protocols.

  1. (Prior to listening) Oh to be young and naive again…medicine won’t change unless we get the POLITICS out of medicine! The reason this stuff isn’t taught in med school (or anywhere else) is because THEY DON’T WANT TO CURE ANYTHING–doctors depend on repeat business and need as many chronically ill people in their caseload as they can get, so they can sell more drugs and procedures…or even sell scans when the doctors themselves own the scanning facility!

This is why my vet quit medical school to become a vet instead.

Doctors, hospitals, every medical setting depends on sickness of the masses, and how else are they going to achieve that (and make enough extra money to spend on political campaign contributions) then to follow the AMA (and not the research) in lockstep? These doctors don’t even know they’re just highly-paid pill-pushers–we have those on city streets NOW without a diploma, a degree, or any kind of medical training, and their repertoire doesn’t even include statins!!

These kids expect miracles–unless and until the politics is taken out of medicine, nothing much is going to change institutionally in their lifetimes. They need to chip away at the AMA, and all those “sickness” lobbying groups: the ADA (for diabetes), the AHA, the HL&B institute, the other ADA (for dieticians), and all those societies, associations, and institutes out there currently representing whole hosts of metabolic diseases. Run for the cure? Walk for the cure? Buy cutesy little pink kitchen appliances? Plaster ribbon-shaped stickers on our cars? How about if we just CUT THE SUGAR–that doesn’t cost anything.

Now I’ll listen to the podcast.
