Australian anesthesiologist and anti-sugar activist Dr. Rod Tayler is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
[powerpress]

Dr. Tayler was one of the 250+ enthusiastic people who joined us on the recent May 2012 Low-Carb Cruise to be amongst like-minded people from around the world who are becoming more and more aware of the problems associated with not just with sugar but literally all refined and starchy carbohydrates. Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, he is doing his part to spread the word about healthy low-carb living as the principal investigator of The SWEET (Sugar and Weight Effect at Epworth sTudy). Dr. Tayler has made headlines in the land of Oz for suggesting that fruit not fat may in fact be part of the reason why we have an obesity epidemic. Listen in to today’s interview to hear how he looks at food as teaspoons of sugar which puts everything into the proper perspective. Be encouraged by the amazing work Dr. Tayler is doing on behalf of Paleo low-carb living!

  1. Hi Jimmy,

Glad you are back and hopefully well rested.  I enjoy all of your discussions and this one regarding sugar hits home for me.  Over 10 years ago, when I first did Atkins the first thing I did was stop all sugar.  I initlally lost 40 lbs and have basically kept that off but still need to lose maybe 10-20 lbs.  I have played with my diet a lot over the years, trying to kick start weight loss, and now have increased fat mostly with coconut oil but still my weight stays basically the same unless I go really strict low carb with no cafffiene, no sweeteners, lower fat, etc.  This strict diet is very hard to maintain so I usually end up going off with a binge.   My usual diet includes stevia and xylotol for my sweeteners.  My questions is do these sweeteners have the same effect on glucose as the other artificial sweeteners?   I eat very little if any fruit so my main weakness is the stevia and xylotol.  Also I eat CarbSmart yogurt.  This too could be a problem.  Like you, my numbers are pretty good.  A year ago my A1C was 4.7.  My trigs were 66, HDL 62 and LDL 182, total 257.  I am planning on rechecking soon.  Thanks for listening and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Also where should I go to speak with your other listeners and maybe get more advice?  Thanks, Pat
