In March 2012, a column was published online at a web site called Sign Of The Times entitled “Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease.” Jimmy received the link to this essay written by Dr. Lundell from literally hundreds of people through his e-mail, Facebook page and Twitter. In fact, several people asked if he would interview the author of the column on his podcast–and the truth is he already did three years ago in Episode 280! But now Dr. Lundell is back to talk about this newfound fame that got him noticed quite prominently in the media, including Rush Limbaugh reading Dr. Lundell’s column on the air to his millions of nationwide listeners. Listen in as Jimmy speaks with Dr. Lundell again about how all of this transpired literally out of nowhere to help put the message that saturated fat and cholesterol aren’t the causes of heart disease and carbohydrates are. ENJOY!

Great show, Jimmy. Dr, Lundell seems like a straight up good guy. I liked that you addressed the Quackwatch site, and let him address it as well. It is important that people have a fair say against their critics. So many things can be politicized, or be run by personal vendettas.
It just amazes me that it is so controversial to say sugar and flour are bad for you. It boggles my mind that people find it hard to accept that carbs make you fat, especially doctors, who know how insulin works, or if they don’t, can read a textbook and understand it!
I also like the point of glucotoxicity that Dr. Lundell made. That is my point in regards to ‘safe starches’ and you and he hit it home nicely…
THANKS Dr. O.! I’m happy to give a voice for people like Dr. Lundell.
Great show. Thank you Jimmy and Dr Lundell. My biggest critic was my mother. I used to get upset, but not now. Warm wishes to you both. Jill
Thanks Jill!
Hi, Jimmy,
Great show, as always. Wanted to drop a line on one of the
points you have covered: Going through induction vs. tapering down on carbs.
I have to say that the analogy of cutting your tail
bit-by-bit vs. just getting it off in one chop is completely wrong. The only
time I get “induction flu” symptoms is when I go to the 20 g or less carbs level. If I stay in that 50-70g sweet
spot, I feel great, don’t have any “induction flu” symptoms and my
blood sugar stays steady (I check), as long as I don’t have too many carbs at
one meal.
You always say that we should find what works for us, I
truly think that for some people (myself included) the tapered off approach
works best. And I find that doing induction doesn’t make sence to me because I
can’t stay there forever and why would I go through that discomfort if I’m
going to work my way up a little bit at a time anyway. Might as well work my
way down instead.
Keep up the good work, Jimmy! You rock!
Thanks for your input!
