When people begin a low-carb weight loss and health journey, one of the biggest mistakes they make is neglecting the role that dietary fat plays in their newfound healthy lifestyle. Fat is satiating, becomes the fuel for your body in the absence of carbohydrate, and is a critical element of what Jimmy likes to call livin’ la vida low-carb. K.D. Joseph understands this and makes the case for consuming dietary fat in his new e-book Fat: The Weight Loss Secret – Simple Advice To Lose Weight And Change Your Life. Listen in as Jimmy and K.D. chew the fat so to speak on this very important subject!

So nice to hear his way with clients…I so agree that we need to have patience and to be kind and have them relax! For me introducing fats to those with disordered eating is like skating on thin ice (go too fast and they bolt) time is one of the key elements to healing. Simple yes, yet time and kindness are so necessary.
What feels awesome is to have someone come back and say how they love not having to eat all the time…that’s when I know they got it!
Great guest Jimmy…downloading his book onto my phone as we speak.
Aloha!
The great tip for me was hearing that I don’t have to eat when I’m not hungry. I’m an insurance agent and just about a month and a half ago I started juicing and eating paleo, I’ve lost 13 pound and seem to have plateaued. The only time I seem to get hungry is when I awake in the morning, which as I’ve learned is a good thing. But I have been trying to eat 3 meals daily; breakfast , lunch and dinner even though many times at lunch time I wasn’t hungry. So from now on the regimented meals is out the window. I’ll eat only when I’m hungry from now on. By the way, what do you think about juicing vegs along with high fat consumption? Could this be why I’ve plateaued? Too much veg juice? I also enjoy a glass(or two) of red wine each evening. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks. P.S. also downloaded your ebook. Great price!
Thanks everybody for the kind words.
Wilton- In regards to juicing, I am not so sure it is necessary for most people. While it is great to be eating lots of vegetables (especially leafy veggies like kale) in my opinion it is much, much more important to be eating lots of fatty meat. So you probably want to cut down on the juicing and focus on more meat and fat-based smoothies instead 😉
Cheers,
K.D.
In response to smoothies. Was wondering what you thought about using whey protein in the cream smoothie?
Where can I find the clip from the Andy Griffith Show where Barney tells Aunt Bee he can’t eat her high carb dessert?
I put a link to it in the notes on my blog post on this episode.
