Florida-based radiologist and long-time Type 1 diabetic Dr. Daniel Jones is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
In today’s exciting interview, Dr. Daniel Jones discusses with Jimmy his progression over the last 20+ years living with Type 1 diabetes, how starting with the ADA-recommended diet led to serious consideration of getting an insulin pump implanted into his body (so he could keep eating pizza), and what directed him to choose his current path to fervent advocacy of the healthy, low-carb lifestyle. Don’t miss this very personal story about overcoming diabetes with a low-carb lifestyle change shared by a medical professional who nows “gets” it!

The good doctor’s experiences square with mine. It’s good to hear all this from someone else. I’m 49 and I’ve been Type 1 for forty years, and I have long had trouble controlling blood sugar — until I sharply reduced my intake of carbohydrates. My endocrinologist is pleased at the good numbers but sure that I can’t be healthy on so little carbohydrate — my brain needs more! — and so much fat…
Great interview with Dr. Jones! The best part: “It’s the Power of Jimmy Moore!”
Thank you Dr. Jones and as always, thank you Jimmy!
This was a very informative podcast- would have liked to hear what his diet now consists of…
Thanks again Jimmy
If we can get him to start blogging, I’m sure that’ll come up.
When he was describing what a nightmare it was being a carb-addict with Diabetes, it kind of broke my heart. I know before i discovered LCHF I was constantly battling with my own food obsessions, crazed cravings & blood sugar issues – I can’t even imagine how awful it would be with diabetes. I’m so glad for podcasts like yours that really help people by spreading the truth. Thanks!
Great interview Jimmy,
Lots of truth here. I have T2 diabetes for ten years now. I control it with the Atkins diet and exercise, no drugs.
My slogan: Eat Fat, Its Good For You!
Nice slogan to live by. 🙂
Thank you Dr Jones and Jimmy. Recently two good friends said that fat is worse than sugar for diabetics. Another called me “lucky” that I am healthy weight. It is frustrating but I will never give up.

Big Mahalo to Dr Jones for his clear and down to earth interview. I love that he had nothing to sell! (I know we all have to make a living)He spoke from experience and heart…thanks for sharing him with us Jimmy- Great Interview.
Thank you for this interview Jimmy (and Dr. Jones). You know that I became a type 1 at 40 and I’m also a radiation chemist (my primary field of research) so I particulary enjoyed hearing from someone in a related field. I have felt rather alone in using LC to manage my type 1. I also appreciated the acknowledgement that management takes TIME and WORK. As a working mom I have found it especially challenging. Thanks again.
You are very welcome, Wendy! You are most definitely NOT alone. 🙂
