Justin Smith, author of $29 Billion Reasons To Lie About Cholesterol, is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
Justin Smith is a fitness coach who strongly supports individual health approaches for each individual. But there is one thing he believes everyone should be extremely leery of: the bogus claims of modern Western medicine about the dangers of cholesterol (and saturated fats) and the supposed benefits of taking statin drugs to help.
Topics discussed in this interview include metabolic typing, how pharmaceutical companies drive most of the research on cholesterol, the way medical school curriculum indoctrinates false beliefs into the minds of our young doctors, charities misapplying research and treatment dollars, and even (gasp) statins in Happy Meals?! If you or someone you know takes a statin drug to “protect” yourself against having a heart attack, then you need to listen to this podcast!
Special thanks today to our sponsor Z-Sweet for supporting this episode of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show!”
NOTE: Please come back on Thursday for Part 1 of a special two-part interview with Gary Taubes about his latest book entitled Why We Get Fat And What To Do About It! He will address the critics of his work in Thursday’s episode and then in Part 2 on Friday will answer listener-submitted questions. DON’T YOU DARE MISS THIS ONE!

Hi Jimmy
Thank you for this really interesting episode. My number one health tip is get enough sleep. If your insides are tired they won’t work properly. Also, go to Google Images diabetes amputation wound erosion. Print out a confronting pic in colour and paste it to your pantry door. If you need a treat buy a book or a bunch of flowers. Warm wishes
Jill
This was a very enjoyable interview. Mr. Smith was so clear and concise in his presentation. He covered so much of the paleo, LC, rational and science in a very short interview. I particularly got a lot out of the discussion on blood lipids.
Thanks for all the podcasts Jimmy.
Great podcast! I wish I could get my parents to listen to it and read the book. They are terrified of giving up the statins the doctors tell them they need. š
I always love hearing from those who refute the lies about cholesterol Jimmy. More people need this information! Thanks for having Justin Smith on again!
I love this interview with Justin Smith because it does something that is badly needed in society. It debunks a prevailing myth that is costing us millions. Our medical community’s and society’s preoccupation with cholesterol has to be one of the greatest examples of misguided energy and wasted monetary resources to ever disgrace medical history. This is what happens when you let corporations MANUFACTURE an epidemic to suit the financial interest of its stock holders.
I have always found it odd that in the late part of the 19th century and the first half the 20th century, we made such incredible advances in the CURE, not just mere ātreatmentā of, various diseases, even though we had far less scientific knowledge and even less technology at our disposal. Why is it that now, with our mind boggling amount of scientific knowledge and technological advancement, donāt we get cures, but the best we can get are half hearted ātreatmentsā to diseases that may prolong life with diminished quality?
I think the reason for this is that now, more than ever, we have corporate interest dictating the path and manner of our medical research and this becomes more of a hindrance to finding a cure to the major medical maladies that afflict us. It is in the corporate interest to NOT FIND A CURE, but only treat a person with a condition.
After all, if you cure a person you are not going to get repeat business, and that is where all the profit is. Furthermore, if you can convince a population that there is something defective with them, when there really isnāt anything wrong with them, then your business becomes even more profitable, and the lipid hypothesis, for the most part, is the greatest example of this misinformation. No one will see that the emperor has no clothes when they are getting paid not to see it. It was Upton Sinclair who said: āIt is difficult to get a man to understand something when his job depends on not understanding it.ā
Thank you Jimmy for bring us such informative interviews, so that we can see how the pharmaceutical industry is trying to pull the wool over peopleās eyes.
Hi Jimmy
I liked this podcast. The bets source of infromation on the cholesterol scam is the original sound blower, Dr. Uffe Ravnskov.
He is probably the world’s leading expert and a super nice guy. I am currently going to buy his newest books.
Dr. Ravnskov has many years of experience in science.
Take care,
raz
Great Interview…… Justin speaks well and presents the case in easy to understand language. Thank you both
