416: Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum Helps You Beat Sugar Addiction Now! And A Kimkins Trial Update From Attorney John Tiedt

Dr. Jacob Tietelbaum, author of Beat Sugar Addiction Now!, and John Tiedt, plaintiff’s attorney in the Kimkins lawsuit, are our guests today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.

Finally we have a last-minute interview with attorney John Tiedt on the outcome of the Kimkins class action suit following more than three years of investigation and litigation. For those who don’t remember, the Kimkins diet was created as a multi-tiered diet plan by fraudster Heidi Diaz, A.K.A. Kimberly Drake, “Kimmer” and many other names she used. The plan was run via a paid-subscription online community site which, much like a cult, had a secret “hidden diet” within the diet where people who were having trouble losing weight were berated, told to eat less than 500 calories a day (sometimes only 300 calories!) and take laxatives. On this high-level plan, the goal was to feel too nauseated to eat much of anything, a state referred to by Kimmer as “SNATT” or Slightly Nauseous All The Time.
Jimmy has a personal stake in this case, as Diaz tricked him into giving her publicity by describing the plan as a “lower-fat version of Atkins.” But Jimmy isn’t alone, or even close to the most harmed in this. Former members have suffered baldness, heart palpitations, the development of eating disorders and many other heath issues. Many former subscribers and even Kimkins employees joined in a lawsuit, represented by John, and he’s here to share the outcome of this journey through the judicial system. Dr. Tietelbaum was very interesting. He spoke quickly and I had a hard time catching every word. I’m interested in the iPhone app. Can you mention the name on your site? I also didn’t catch the vitamins he was recommending.
He did talk fast didn’t he, Valerie? LOL! The iPhone app is “Cures: A to Z” and there were a bunch of vitamins mentioned. He lists them in his book and they may be on his http://www.vitality101.com web site.
Another interesting podcast, after I kicked my sugar addiction. I found kicking my nicotine addiction was easy.
What a charming interview with Dr. Tietelbaum! He comes across as very charming and sincere, with a fun sense of humour. I enjoyed that 🙂

I enjoyed the podcast with Dr. Tietelbaum and also hearing from attorney,John Tiedt about the Kimkins case.After listening to you for the past 4 years, Jimmy, and reading your books, I am amazed that you fell for the Kimkins diet. I remember when you first blogged about her and I made a comment that I didn’t think it was necessary to pay her membership fee to learn about the low carb diet when you could just read your blog.Well, you never published my comment, but I was so happy when you finally exposed her for the fraud that she was. I applaud you for admitting that even you fell for her lies at first, but apparently, it didn’t take you long to see through her lies. I’m going to keep checking her site to make sure she follows through with the Court ordered requirements.
I always say that sugar addiction is like any other form of addiction – it destroys you and you cannot leave it!
I am all for a book that teaches me how to control it!
