Melissa McEwen, Paleo blogger from Hunt.Gather.Love is our guest in today’s Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.
Today Jimmy chats with an extraordinary young lady from New York City named Melissa McEwen. Why is she so remarkable? Because she is a hunter/gathering Paleo dieter who thrives in an urban location. Say what?!
That’s right, she works with a meat CSA and goes out to the more remote suburbs where there are still family-run farms to buy her produce and livestock. Listen in for her offbeat and admirable existence as she forges (and forages) her own path to low-carb, Paleo fitness!
Also, remember to support our amazing sponsor, QuestBars, who want to give YOU two free samples! Listen in to find out how!

This gal rocks! Great interview!
Melissa is not a disciple in a community “led by John Durant” (!) I’ve always seen them as complimentary, playing to their unique strengths – and in her case, there’s a tremendous amount of substance with less focus on razzle dazzle. The New York Paleo scene would be radically poorer without her.
Thanks! That was a good interview.
Denise Minger and Melissa McEwen are both very inspiring young women, and you’re such a lovely interviewer Jimmy.
I enjoyed this interview so much! I especially liked the discussion of women and Paleo. For inspiration, I have been on a hunt for other women that are successful with this lifestyle, and Melissa is one of the few I have found. As inspiring as she is, I would love to see others…esp. some in their 30s, 40s, 50s, etc. I have been converting to the Paleo diet for a few months now (still working on completely eliminating dairy) but when Mark Sisson’s beautiful and fit wife Carrie, doesn’t follow the plan, it makes me wonder if it really is right for women my age. I have absolutely seen improvements in my health, but haven’t seen a dent in the extra 20 pounds I am carrying and have to be very careful not to gain more. Hopefully I’ll find the tweaks that work for me, because I will never go back to low fat rice cakes and tofu!! Thanks Jimmy!
Great interview! Melissa is so thoughtful and articulate. I read her blog regularly.
