Dr. David Ludwig, childhood obesity expert at Harvard & Boston Children’s Hospital, and author of Ending the Food Fight: Guide Your Child to a Healthy Weight in a Fast Food/ Fake Food World is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore.
Listen to Dr. Ludwig as he discusses how the glycemic index can be used as a determiner of what is and isn’t good to feed our kids, including why we shouldn’t be afraid of consuming some fruits as long as we avoid juices. He predicts non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) will be running rampant in children soon and how that disorder is exploited to make geese produce Foie Gras by being force-fed refined grains. Yikes! Timmy, put down that donut right now!

And THANK YOU for doing all these great interviews. You’ve touched more people than you can possibly know.

I wonder if it’s worth distinguishing between we’re pretty sure of, and what we’re guessing about.
We’re pretty sure the standard American diet has lots of drawbacks.
We’re guessing that industrially processed corn sugar is more harmful than other sugars.
We’re guessing that eating a lot of high quality, natural meat leads to a longer, heathier life than eating a lot of more processed meat.
We’re guessing that no grains is healthier than whole grains.
I’d say all of those things are EDUCATED guesses worth exploring and talking about. There is no good that comes from consuming sugar from any source.
I liked most of what he said but I have no idea why I need to consider the sustainability and the global food demand in my consumption of grass fed meat, I have heard another lady on your show jump to that arguement & it just doesn’t make sense nor did it answer the question that was asked.
Some of your guests assume evolution as fact, I am a non believer in it, so what about another perspective?
Great interview Jimmy! He made one of the most important points of all about eating: Quality over Quantity!
Comparing grassfed/pastured animal products to feed-lot/grain-fed animal products, is like comparing fruits & vegetables to refined grains & sugar. We know that the higher quality versions are better, but most experiments only take into account quantity, and leave out the quality aspect. (Like the Plant vs Animal Low Carb studies mentioned)That’s one of the reasons why there are so many differing perspectives on whats “good & bad”.
