Oh, my…this episode came at a time when I really needed it. Unfortunatley, I listened to it about 3 days too late. My 3-year old son had a cavity filled this week, which included a root canal! Can you believe it? I just listened in amazement as Ramiel talked about remineralizing our teeth. Well, it’s too late to undo my son’s root canal, but I’m definitely going to change his diet a bit and try to get him taking some fat-soluble vitamins. Jimmy, do you know if children can handle cod-liver oil? I’ve never taken it myself. I take coconut oil daily (3 times/ day) and wonder if that helps my teeth. I’ve never had a cavity—not one! But my son has already had one at the young age of 3…and we brush his teeth several times a day! He rarely eats whole grains, either. Anyway, I have to do some more research…but I really appreciate this informative podcast!
Glad you enjoyed this conversation! I don’t know about the cod liver oil question, but I wouldn’t think it would be problem.
Children have been getting Cod Liver oil for a long time. It was perennially hated by kids in the 19th and early 20th century who didn’t have the benefits of the capsule and had to drink spoonfulls!
hey there,
it is now understood that brushing the young teeth after brushing actually brushed off the enamel that has been softened by the acids in the food just consumed. recommended in stead is rinsing the mouth thoroughly with water, or unpasteurised milk.
best wished for you son,
c.o.
My 4 1/2 year old son had been taking CLO since he was an infant along with high mineral butter oil. He teeth so far are strong and white. The dentist and dental hygenist saw it looks good.
Tiawan Gal,
Maybe you should consider finding a new dentist. A root canal on a 3 year old sounds pretty extreme to me.
I wouldn’t advise consuming raw eggs. The egg white contains avidin, an anti-nutrient that binds to the B Vit Biotin, similar to the anti-nutrients in grains. This chemical is neutralized by cooking, where as the phytates and others in grains are not…
Good point. Why not just eat the egg yolk and throw away the white. Problem solved.
I bought the book several months ago. Well worth the money and a fascinating read. I don’t know where I will go with my dental health because I have a chronic illness. But at least being able to try nutritional changes as well as having the knowledge of what actually causes cavities makes me feel way better. Of note, since making major nutritional changes based mainly on Rami’s suggestions as well as some of those in references from his book, has definitely had a positive impact on my health. Although still very ill this is the best I have felt in years and I have measurable, noticeable indicators.
What about Vitamin D. So many wonderful things are now attributed to it. Being good for bones, you’d think it would be good for teeth.
what might cause my incissors to be more sensitive with cold and even warm water. it is not usual.i feel the water immediatedly it drop inside my mouth, pls suggest to me what to do ,although is not paining me but in case to prevent cavity
I’d ask:
The author claims (on his website) his teeth were also infected with cavities. Did they remineralize? Does it mean black spots whitened?
Is it possible to pass the question to Ramiel Nagel?
And the question for Jimmy if I may ask it. Ramiel said taking cod liver oil reduced cavities by 40% and you take it. Can you confirm this statement?
