  1. It was so good of Dr V to spare us 42 minutes of his busy day to plug just about every product he could think of that he has for sale.
As for a conversation with Jimmy, well, if you don’t agree with him he will just talk right over the top of you.
Don’t disagree with him about Dr Atkins, he had dinner with ‘Bob’ many times, so just shut up and listen,”I’ve got patients waiting’. Did I mention how important I am?’
I’m sure I heard him say ‘Corn isn’t that bad’ but he blathered on for so long after saying it that I think even Jimmy forgot about it.

  2. Maybe we need more arrogant people like this doc in the low carb community who just talk right over you regardless of the science out there or what you believe.

It would be interesting to see the ‘studies’ he refers to on how cancer and other things are provoked by saturated fats. I’m pretty sure its flawed and not done in a true low carb (ketogenic) test environment. Heck I think even water can ’cause cancer’ if taken with enough sugar…

As for the rest of the advertising, I have heard about some of the products and it would be awesome to see how they aid in the fields of curing diabetes in the future.

  3. I for one don’t mind someone ‘plugging’ their own or someone else’s products. I am always interested in what others are using or recommending. I then read up on it and decide if I should try it for myself.

As for his demeanor, or some may call it arrogance…he’s a New Yorker! Most New Yorkers come across like that :-). I am in the process of checking out his site – there is a lot there.

Thank you Jimmy for another great interview. He did keep you on your toes didn’t he?!

    1. Yes he did, Rosemarie! But he was kind enough to let me interview him and I was grateful for the opportunity. Although this Southern boy was working hard to keep up with the New Yorker! 😛

  4. Hi Jimmy

Your comment about rancid saturated fat made me laugh. The issue is irrelevant compared to the rancidity of polyunsaturates. Just been reading Bruce Fife’s The Coconut Miracle who quotes Jurg Loliger (Free Radicals and Food Additives). Basically vegetable oils can be toxic, and usually are, but you would never know it from the smell or taste. They are also cancer promoting because they are easily oxidized.

  5. Hmmmm, not so sure about the Dr.Vagina guy, but LOVE THE PODCAST! Thanks for all the encouragement, Jimmy!

  6. Hey Jimmy,

Great podcast. I listen to Dr. V on the radio sometimes. I don’t doubt that he wants to help people and means well, but the guy comes off obnoxious sounding. It has nothing to do with him being a New Yorker. I am a NYer born and raised and am nothing like this guy. Dr. Bernstein is a NYer and does not come off this way. I think humility is one of the most important qualities in a person and Dr. V is clearly lacking in this department. In my view, any doctor that pushes his own supplements is somewhat suspect. That said, I take Dr. Weil’s multivitamins. I just think if a doctor has an profit incentive to push a certain supplement or drug than there exists a possible conflict of interest.

    Keep up the good work,
    Zuckdawg

FYI: My dad and grandfather were patients of Dr. Atkins when he first established his practice in NYC. Funny story, eventually Dr. Atkins told my grandfather that he did not want him as a patient because he was not serious about sticking to the diet and was bad advertising! 100% true.
