Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
Today Jimmy shares his conversation with Connie Leas, author of the book Fat: It’s Not What You Think. Connie talks about the healthy dietary attributes of consuming fats and the negative health impact of a common condition called lipophobia (fear of fats) that is totally unnecessary. Listen in for a whole lot of healthy chewing of the fat–LITERALLY!

Eggs for breakfast help keep the appetite under control while bagels will stimulate the appetite. The best part of the egg is the egg yolk. Eggs are high in choline which is good for a growing brain. DHA is also good for the growing brain. Wild blueberries are good for the brain.
It’s too bad that many kids are given carbohydrates for breakfast instead of eggs.
Jimmy, I love your show and listen to each episode. But this was by far the worst guest you’ve ever had. She was inarticulate. It was almost painful to listen to her gulp and stutter through her non-answers. I felt so sorry for her. It took me three tries to even get halfway through the podcast. Then I gave up. I don’t expect everyone to be a professional speaker, but this woman didn’t sound like a professional anything – especially since she couldn’t even speak with certainty on the topic of her own book.
Anyway, I’m sure you had a good reason for wanting to give her a chance. I wish it had worked out better.
The book is phenomenal, Kiki! Connie was very nervous and I tried to make her feel as comfortable as possible. Sorry you felt it wasn’t worth doing.
Aloha Jimmy!
Man I wish I had heard this a few days ago…I was thrilled to hear Connie comment on the prejudice against fat.
A woman left a blog comment re: the interview I did on the Personal Growth Map Blog (http://bit.ly/cfYJAv comment #3) pointing to my body size and how she couldn’t accept my advice…wow! People amaze me.
Any way Jimmy Mahalo for another interesting podcast!
Aloha~ Gina
So awesome!
Jimmy, this is the first podcast I have listened to. I just finished and I enjoyed the entire thing!! I will be listening to a few every week now. Keep them coming and I will help ya spread them around the web. I will be sure to donate as soon as I get the money rolling in too.
Today is the 30 day anniversary of my blog 🙂
WELCOME to the podcast, Primal! 😀
I loved the interview, Jimmy! I appreciated the “down-to-earthiness” of your guest. I have one question that I may have missed the answer to: Connie explained what happens to excess protein and carbs (getting converted and eventually stored as fat), but what happens to excess fat that is eaten? If you eat the right amount of protein and carbs, but eat, say, double the amount of fat that you “need”, what happens then? By what mechanism is that fat used, passed or stored?
I think a fair amount is eliminated in the stools. Since I’ve been on a low-carb diet the stools are much lighter in color and have a tendency to float (and not flush away!)
