Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

We have a special episode today with not just one, but two outstanding guests! First up, previous guest Lierre Keith (listen to our February 2010 interview with her) has been in the news this week and she’s here to clear the air about an attack she suffered for her pro-omnivore views of health. How serious was the attack? Well, considering that she suffers from a degenerative bone disease and was attacked with cayenne pepper-laced pies forcefully thrown at her head, it was pretty brutal. Lierre has given us an exclusive interview today discussing this entire ordeal.

Next up is Jimmy’s conversation with Susan Siljander from Grassroots Health, an organization dedicated to public health education and in particular, the developers of the Vitamin D-Action intitiative to spread the word on the importance of maintaining healthy levels of Vitamin D. If you want to know how this supplement can radically improve your health, then you won’t want to miss this podcast!

  1. You can buy vitamin D3 predissolved in oil cheap which makes the D3 easier to absorb. The prescription D2 is much more expensive and I don’t think it’s predissolved in oil.

  2. The more I read about Lierre Keith and her anti-civilization beliefs, the less I understand why you promote her on this blog, Jimmy.

She believes in destroying the electric grid to bring down civilization. She believes in tearing down dams. She does not value human life any more than a plant’s life. I can’t believe that you would support such a violent mindset.

Her book is written from this perspective. When she says “sustainability,” she doesn’t intend for her plan to allow humanity to live sustainably. Her plan would require the genocide of 8 billion people. She has readily admitted to this many times and has no ethical qualms with it.

She is an actual eco-terrorist. Stop propping her up.

    1. This should have never happened, and I hope somebody goes to jail. Wow! If her beliefs are really that out there, I find it surprising that she would think it appropriate to “shut down” a public talk by someone expressing deviant views on race, antisemitism, or the holocaust. I’m all for free speech regardless of how bizarre.

  3. Robert, if you don’t like her message, then don’t listen. But I think the good she is doing far outweighs any of the bad. I don’t agree with Lierre’s politics myself, but that won’t prevent me from letting her have her say on nutrition. What happened to her was reprehensible and I was all too happy to give her a platform to respond.

  4. In response to Robert: Leirre Keith is a deep thinker and a true believer. She is trying to live an ethical life based on a philosophy that transcends the narrow interests of human beings. She’s a radical in the sense that she tries to consider the full implications of her values, including the uncomfortable ones, and live and speak them. Her values are not mainstream, but listeners should try to recognize her sincerity and honesty. It’s healthy for all of us to consider ideas that challenge our own. Perhaps we should all question “civilization,” and certainly consider its many disadvantages and the inequity and injustice it can create. Jimmy deserves applause for opening his mind and his forum to views of all sorts across the political spectrum. That’s what makes him such a success and so valuable as an intellectual and activist. He should certainly NOT shut out people like Lierre Keith. If he did, he would have that much more in common with those pie-wielding bullies.

  5. Robert,

I don’t see how you think Lierre values plants over humans, when she advocates humans eating plants and various yummy animals, too.

  6. Jimmy. I would have ran after those punks and beat them into submission IN FRONT of the entire crowd.

I doubt they would try that with me as I am 6′ 2″ 230.

They wouldn’t have messed with me neither, Rick, at 6’3″! LOL! COWARDS!

  7. The evidence for the benefits from vitamin D is nothing short of astonishing and keeps coming in. From helping to ward off cancer to possibly curing the common cold to preventing influenza and other positive findings, the sunshine vitamin has a bright future indeed. When you throw in that becuase of poor diet and a modern lifestyle which decreases exposure to sunshine average vitamin D levels are likely lower than in the past, it is not a stretch to speculate that very many of the diseases of modern society may be directly related to or partially influenced by a deficiency of this lion of a vitamin. Oh yeah and bone health effects that have been known about for a while longer. So get out and enjoy the sun on your face this Spring, won’t even cost you a dime.

  8. I’m surprised she didn’t mention cod liver oil. A tablespoon of the stuff I use (Carlson’s) has 1200 units plus over 3 grams of omega 3 oil. And it tastes yummy…NOT! 😉
