Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
In Episode 339, Jimmy is happy to present a very distinguished and legendary cholesterol skeptic guest, the great Dr. Uffe Ravnskov who is the author of a brand new book entitled Fat And Cholesterol Are Good For You.
First, though, Jimmy brings you a brief chat with Collette Heimowitz from Atkins Nutritionals to explain the flaws behind the protocols and approach taken in a March 2, 2010 study claiming to refute the efficacy of the healthy low-carb lifestyle. Next, our friend Amy Dungan returns for today’s CarbSmart Minute to tell us all about another great high-fiber, low-carb food, GG Scandinavian Bran Crispbread!
Then on to the main event: Dr. Ravnskov talks to Jimmy about the lack of any studies that prove any benefit for fat restriction or supporting the cholesterol theory of heart disease. Also discussed is the Cholesterol Skeptics group called THINCS, trying to advocate low-carb in an environment where health professionals fear getting in legal trouble because of it, and so MUCH more! Don’t miss a single moment!
ALERT: Next week will not have any podcasts airing as Jimmy and 100 low-carbers will be attending the third annual low-carb cruise to the Bahamas…and Kevin is going fishin’ for a well-deserved time off! We’ll be back on March 15, 2010 with new low-carb podcasts! SEE YA!

Thanks so much for your information on Bran Crisps!
We have been loyal customers of these crispbreads for years and they are a part of our daily diet routine that we couldn’t live without (Note: only 12 calories per slice).
They are just perfect for the health conscious and dieters (especially people who are following a low carbohydrate and low calorie diets).
Our favorite way to eat the crispbreads are with a mixture of Cinnamon and Truvia although they can be used for any meal.
For example: breakfast use as toast with your eggs, lunch as a bread substitute for a sandwich, dinner as small pizzas with tomatoes and basil…etc and these are only a few of the ways we enjoy our brancrisps.
We actually highlighted GG Brancrips as one of our ‘Food Findings’ on our blog at bodyhacker.com. We will continue to post more of our recipes and other research to live a long, healthy life on our site if you are interested.
Thanks again and we look forward to hearing more.

Jimmy, thanks for the interviews. I have a question for you or whoever. I hear this thought repeatedly “Saturated fat is NOT bad for you” from the low-carb camp. From the rest of the world I hear the opposite. Could someone point me to an analysis of the various research studies that have been done that would show how those two diametrically opposed stances have been arrived at? TIA!
I’ve listened to Dr. Ravenskov’s interview twice and was able to make out a little more of his content each time (I have poor speakers) – I think I will have to read his website and maybe his book to really understand what he was saying.
On an unrelated topic, Jimmy, you might want to listen to how the word “annals” should be pronounced: http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/audio.pl?annals01.wav=annals ~smiling~
The best study is this one released in January 2010 that pretty much slammed the door shut on the whole “saturated fat is bad” nonsense. ENJOY! Dr. Ravnskov’s book is an amazing wealth of information confirming much of what is in that study.
Oh, and thanks for the linguistics lesson…oh well. I don’t like being anal about it anyway. 😀

I would have liked to enjoy Dr. Ravnskov’s interview, but my aural processing deficits didn’t allow my brain to cut through the Dr.’s thick accent. Would someone be kind enough to create a transcript? Failing that, I’ll just buy the Dr.’s new book.
Another awesome interview Jimmy!
A big thanks to you and Uffe!
Thank you very much for this post.
