That is very interesting. Thanks to Dr Bryan Walsh for sharing such a great information.
Finally! A health care professional who recognizes and explains there’s way more going on with our bodies than simply “calories in – calories out.” Mainstream medical and insurance companies should start paying attention instead of advocating treating only symptoms with the use of long-term maintenance drugs. Thank you, Dr. Walsh.
Based on the title of Dr. Walsh’s book, I was ready to disagree with everything he was going to say in this podcast. However, now that I understand what he means, I must say – very interesting. He definitely gets your attention with that title. As an avid weight lifter, I have personally experienced many of the things Dr. Walsh talks about, but not understood why. Hormone balance, adrenal health, gastrointestinal function, liver function, and blood sugar balance – definitely a lot more to pay attention to than just calorie ratios and macro-nutruients. Great interview.
Excellent interview, Jimmy. I was impressed with Dr. Walsh’ knowledge of the body as an interconnected system. And I was very impressed that he was not at all threatened by you as a knowledgeable layperson, but praised you for taking the initiative to learn all you have. Not all doctors would be so encouraging.
I’m definitely in the category of people he’s talking about. I lost 30 lbs. on low carb, kept it off for a year, but since then, while being faithful to low carb and eating the same way that resulted in a 30 lb. weight loss, along with exercising, I’ve gained back the 30 lbs. over the last couple of years, and struggle to halt the gain. I went on Dr. Eades’ 6-week cure and didn’t lose pounds or inches. I know something has to be going on, and tell myself all the time it can’t be my fault, so it was very reassuring to hear a doctor say that. The problem with trying to go to my own doctor is that all I would get from her is “cut back on the fat and get more exercise. Have you tried Weight Watchers?” So without access to a doctor who has a clue, I’m really frustrated to try to keep guessing what is going on hormonally or whatever that I need to fix, and even if I thought it might be this, that or the other, getting my own doctor to do what I asked her as far as running tests or prescribing anything, would probably not happen. If you do ever a follow up interview, ask Dr. Walsh what people can do for themselves to correct metabolic issues if their doctors can’t or won’t. I went to Dr. Walsh’s website, but am hesitant to order his set of materials. What good would they do if I can’t find a doctor to work with me where I live?
Ethyl, I can relate and will be getting some tests done myself. I will DEFINITELY have Dr. Walsh back on again in the future for an interview. You are not alone in your dilemma regarding finding a good doctor.
