Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore!
Today Jimmy speaks with Dr. Kevin Weiland, author of The Dakota Diet. Dr. Weiland supports a generally lower-carb diet with only “good carbs” and “good fats”, somewhat akin to a Mediterranean diet, but based on the foods of the indigenous Americans, such as the Dakota Indians. A diet like this would derive much of its protein from free-range Buffalo, known as the Salmon of the Prairie. Adapted for our modern age, Dr. Weiland says pastured meats and lamb are great, too.
Listen in as Jimmy and Dr. Weiland compare notes on “evil saturated fats” and their points of agreement as well!

Just more of the conventional line: “eat less, move more…good carbohydrates, bad carbohydrates…whole grains…less saturated fat..etc.” Just another calorie counting fat phobe (saturated fat phobe) riding the grass fed hobby horse. He needs to read Gary Taubes, Mark Sisson, and Wolfgang Lutz, MD, who is, like himself, an internist.
I agree, sss. It’s such a shame he’s so close…but yet so far.
This guy is weak in his belief system, way too conventional overall. I also find it odd that he had Tom Daschle endorse his book. From what I recall of that guy’s days in the Senate, he never met a big farm bill he didn’t like.
