One of the greatest aspects of blogging and podcasting is the ability to meet such a wide range of people who make up a part of this low-carb and health community. From the most famous authors to researchers to people who have lost a lot of weight, I’ve had the privilege of coming into contact with a lot of people. But sometimes there’s somebody like you and me who has a special story to tell and I’m pleased to be able to bring you one of those today.
In Episode 242 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from a man named J.P. Fanton who has gone by the name “Harry Hirsute.” Little did I know that J.P.’s journey to low-carb was probably a lot more challenging than most of us experience. He suffered through a health-destroying eating disorder, embraced the Ornish-styled low-fat dogma, went on eating binges, and eventually obesity. Working through these excruciatingly painful issue, J.P. overcame them and fully embraced healthy low-carb living.
Several months ago he took me up on my challenge to the people who read my menus blog to start his own low-carb menu blog. What was borne out of that was a one-of-a-kind web site called “The Wowee Zowee Menu Blog.” Seriously, that’s his blog and it’s full of some hardcore, revved up, daily low-carb menus. J.P.’s unique sense of humor and kindness shines through in everything he touches, including his new health web site called “Healthy Fellow.” This was a memorable one-on-one interview with one of the real good guys in the low-carb community. ENJOY!
What did you think about John Paul “Harry” Fanton? If you or someone you know has gone through an eating disorder, then did what he have to say about his journey sound familiar?
