If you’ve been reading books in the realm of diet, fitness and health in recent years, then no doubt you have run into the great work that Lou Schuler has been doing. He took his love for writing and his passion for fitness to pursue a journalistic career working in some of the most recognizable magazines dedicated to the subject out there, including Muscle & Fitness, Men’s Fitness and Men’s Health. He’s also contributed columns to Men’s Journal, Fit Pregnancy, and Better Homes & Garden before realizing that he really wanted to write books about fitness which is what launched his foray into publishing.

Low-carbers will appreciate that Schuler co-wrote a book in 2002 with low-carbohydrate diet researcher Dr. Jeff Volek entitled The Testosterone Advantage Plan before creating his current The New Rules Of Lifting series. The 2012 release is called The New Rules Of Lifting For Life and was made specifically for middle-aged people who desire a realistic fitness plan that works for them. This book provides customizable workouts with appropriate modifications so that anyone can see results in their pursuit of being fit for life. Listen in as Jimmy and Lou talk about life in the gym and the benefits of getting stronger and more athletic.

  1. This MRP shake is still not good. Processed casein is known to be bad for you. Flax for fat is a rancid idea, and talk about artificial sweeteners etc.

  2. Something tells me, Lou did not try slow lifting himself. Definitely great for people with joint problems, and based on body composition differences Ive seen, the hormonal response is great. Some of it may be due to less overtraining though. And still takes no longer than 30 mins each time.

  3. It was great to hear Lou on the show. I’ve used the info in Lou’s books over the past 9 or 10 years, and there’s no denying the effectiveness of these programs. It’s a great feeling to be strong, isn’t it, Jimmy?
