Professor Hal Herzog, author of Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat: Why It’s So Hard to Think Straight About Animals is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
Hal Herzog specializes in the field of animal behavioral studies, but became interested in the relationship between humans and various diverse animal species after friends convinced him to attend a cockfighting event. Although he strongly disapproves of animal fighting games, he was fascinated by the true affection the owners had for their birds. This eventually led him to research our prejudices and predilections for the animals we keep as pets, shun as pests or choose to consume as food. Listen in as Jimmy and Professor Herzog have quite the philosophical discussion about why we treat different animals in a variety of ways. Topics discussed include cruelty-free pastured meats, raw meats, vegetarianism, social taboos, animals as petkeepers, and much, much more!

Interesting interview, thanks. I’m a dog person, as is my extended family, and I’ve had cats as well. Over the years, my dog companions have taught me much about love and loyalty. I love mostly all animals, and that is one of the many reasons why we always try to eat animals raised humanely and compassionately. I can’t bear animal cruelty, that’s why I support animal rescue and try to educate people not to buy pets at pet stores as they are supporting puppy mills. Thanks, Jimmy.
