Paleo diet legend Art De Vany, author of The New Evolution Diet, is our guest today on Day 4 of “Paleo Extravaganza Week” here at The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore! When you mention the Paleolithic diet and those who have been most influential in spreading the principles of this particular way of eating, then you can’t help but know who the great Art De Vany is. He was Paleo when Paleo wasn’t cool and certainly would have fit in well with our hunter-gather ancestors of long ago. Nowadays in the 21st Century, he is championing traditional eating and exercise techniques to help modern man eradicate many of the chronic diseases that afflict them today. This is one podcast interview you WON’T want to miss!

  1. Who can consider Dr. Arthur De Vany’s age, and then look at his physique and the tremendous feats that he can perform, and not concede how efficacious the Paleo lifestyle is? You really have to be delusional not to admit that such a lifestyle is conducive to long term health and performance. Dr. De Vany is living proof of that. He is probably the most inspirational person within the Paleo movement because he demonstrates the long term effects of such a diet. While men like Robb Wolf and Dr. Matt Lalonde are great physical specimens, and they are a great testament to the positive benefits of a Paleo lifestyle, De Vany is the most convincing example of the effectiveness of Paleo because he demonstrates that such a system has LONG TERM sustainable benefits.

Sure many young health advocates can elicit amazing results with a variety of dietary disciplines and exercise routines, but what might be the real cause of those results maybe excellent genetics coupled with the resilience of a youthful body. But the true litmus test of whether a diet and exercise program really is conducive to imparting a great quality of life many decades after youth is far behind you is whether you can sustain a youthful appearance and physical vitality in the years that are considered your senior years. And clearly De Vany has demonstrated that Paleo is the way to go if you want to sustain vigorous physical performance and health in the long run.

As a person who watched his father pass away last year due to the ravages of uncontrolled diabetes, at the same age that Dr. De Vany is now, I am particularly receptive to his message. My father, after being diagnosed in his late 30s early 40s with diabetes, followed the high carbohydrate/low fat/low protein mantra promulgated by the so called health experts. His reward for following the advice of these conventional “experts” was diminished energy in his 40s, deterioration of eyesight in his early 50s to where he could not drive, kidney failure in his late 50s, and then failure of transplanted kidney in his late 60s, and then a painful death by the age of 72. It makes me so agitated that this did not necessarily have to be the case, had he just ignored the advice of the so called experts, and listened to renegades like Dr. Atkins and what Dr. De Vany is saying now. I am glad that this message is going more mainstream so that that more people will be able to benefit from advice that works, instead of being victimized by dogma that ostensibly doesn’t work.

Thanks Jimmy, once again, for bringing inspirational and lifesaving examples to the public.

  2. Great interview. I’ve heard Dr De Vany before and he continues to be one of the most interesting voices in evolutionary nutrition. Thanks for presenting.

Could you guide me to the article/paper referenced regarding genetics and longevity? Thank you Jimmy.
