– Why did I experience soft tissue increase in my armpits once I adopted a ketogenic diet?
Hi Jimmy and Dr. Cole,
I’ve been listening to Keto Talk and eating keto for the past 6 months and have lost 22 pounds so far. My blood work looks great other than my DO adding progesterone and estrogen since I am starting menopause. A strange thing happened when I started keto, though, that I’d like your thoughts about. I have noticed a large soft tissue increase in one armpit and a small one in the other. A mammogram shows just added tissue and no cancer. So, will this go away as I continue to lose weight? I am at 36% body fat so I have a ways to go, but I want to wear a sleeveless shirt again and don’t want to have surgery for this. Any information you may have would be greatly appreciated.
God bless!
Cindy

1. Did the high-fat intake on my ketogenic diet lead to the development of gallstones?
Hey Jimmy and Will,
Love your show and I wanted to get your take on something that happened to me recently. I was admitted to the ER for severe pain in my abdomen and it was gallstones. They pushed hard for me to have surgery, but I chose not to since there was no infection. I’m 56, 6 feet tall, and 169 pounds while in pretty fit shape. I’ve been eating keto with periods of intermittent fasting along with Bulletproof Coffee for the past three years. Is it possible these gallstones are a result of the saturated fat and cholesterol I’m consuming? If so, then how can I return to my beloved Bulletproof Coffee, coconut oil on my veggies, grass-fed meats, and other high-quality fats?
I was really shocked that this happened as I felt I had at last found the diet that was right for me. Many thanks for any insights you might have about why this happened.
Jason

2. Should I be concerned about my “grossly lipemic” blood work that resulted from eating ketogenic with intermittent fasting?
Hi Jimmy and Dr. Cole,
I’ve been eating 70/25/5 keto for nearly a year with great success so far losing 30 pounds. I’m an African American, 6’1″, 64 years old, and currently 195 pounds with approximately 20% body fat. I’ve also added in intermittent fasting of 16/8 on most days. I recently had blood work that showed I am “grossly lipemic.” As a result of this, there was no cholesterol recorded. EVERYTHING else was good. So, should I be concerned?
Thanks, and please keep up the great work. P.S. I have converted my wife to keto from Weight Watchers. Big win!
Bill
3. Since going keto, why am I have dizzy spells with normal blood pressure and blood sugar levels?
Hey guys,
I love your podcast and am working my way through your backlist. I’m 62 and have been eating ketogenic since May. I’ve lost over 40 pounds with about 10-20 more pounds to go. I’m eating low-carb, high-fat and have noticed my blood glucose has come down significantly since eating this way along with an average blood ketone level of 1.6. I was taking blood pressure medication prior to going keto and I’ve come off of it now that BP has normalized with the diet. I’ve noticed that sometimes I get dizzy while standing or doing light work. When I’ve tested my blood pressure and blood glucose after this has happened, they were normal at 120/83 and 82 respectively. I take a potassium and a magnesium pill every day along with L-Thyroxine for my thyroid and 3 Lyrica per day for nerve pain in my foot.
Do you have any idea what may be causing these dizzy spells? Other than this, I feel fine and am having no problem staying on my diet. Thank you very much for your help!

– Why does eating keto and fasting lead to offensive, bad breath and what can you do about it?
Dear Mr. Moore and Dr. Cole,
I’ve been reading The Complete Guide to Fasting that I got from my local library as I have been interested in this subject to manage my rheumatoid arthritis. My question is about keto breath that tends to happen when your body burns ketones. Could you please address this issue and what to do about it? I don’t like the thought of having offensive, bad breath if I decide to fast as an adjunct to eating keto.
Thanks in advance for your help.

In reference to the dizziness mention. Dr Will Cole talked about reactive hypoglycaemia but not what to do if that might be an issue. Is it possible to expand on that?
